There’s only one good thing that can be said about the mosquito: The Great Texas Mosquito Festival in Clute, TX!
Great Texas Mosquito Festival: July 28-30, Clute Municipal Park
One of my favorite local festivals, the Mosquito Fest is known for it’s fantastic musical line-up; in keeping with tradition this year’s head-liner is country star: Pat Green! Saturday, July 30 at 11:00 pm. There’s lots of other talented acts to keep our toes tappin’ and fingers snappin’: Casey Donahue Band, Beyond Derringer, Intercoastal Pirates, Sourmash Band, and the Charlie Lucas Band (mini-mosquito calendar below).
Now’s a great time to subscribe to Jen’s music calendar of events – lots of choices: email, RSS, iCal (synchs with Outlook and your smart phone calendar – my favorite option). Jen’s mobile app is in the works, too! I love the iCal feature. I can click on any event on my smart phone and a new page pops up instantly with band name, music description, venues and links for more info (address, website, etc.). Makes for a handy festival calendar. There’s also a special announcement/invitation at bottom!

Scotties Lounge in Freeport Annouces Grand Opening Party on the Patio and DVD Release Party!
Where: Scotties Lounge, 113 E. Broad St. Freeport, TX
When: Saturday, August 20th
Time: Happy Hour 12:00 to 9:00 pm. DVD Screening starts at 9:00
We’ll be partying in the patio and under the stars and twinkling lights! Big Screen Outside for initial DVD release/screening Class of ’76s’ 35 year class reunion. Purchase your dvd’s there (10.00)! I’ve heard rumors (and confirmed them) that there’ll also be old Exporter footage there. Darle Weir (dvd producer and photographer) has added other historical (old photos of everyone!) footage to the dvd – I cheated – I saw it and it’s awesome! There are a lot of Brazosport classes in it.
Bring your lawn chairs, shorts and sandals - we’re expecting a big crowd and LOTS of down-home fun under the stars! Scotties serves beer, wine and setups. Everyone is welcome! Spread the word – I don’t want to be the only one laughing at myself on the big screen
